FROM AGARTALA TO THE WORLD​

In the 2016 sequel of 'Rock On,' Purab Kohli asks about the lead singer of Vayu. Now that's a scene many young adults replayed many times. They were mostly doctors and engineers from India and the UAE who were born in the '80s and raised on rock n' roll. Why did they replay the scene? Because that lead singer was not a work of fiction. He is someone they grew up knowing as Tirthankar Poddar, or mononymously as 2Blue, the boy from Agartala who left home, quit his job, and headlined their college festival.

THE PLACE HE MADE​

2Blue is not just a great singer. With his galvanizing eloquence, no-holds-barred attitude, and militant-like voice, he is a muscular statement like a raised fist. So when Bumblefoot (Guns N' Roses), George Lynch (Dokken), and Paul Di'Anno (Iron Maiden) came to India, it was 2Blue they performed with. Other accolades? 'Best Band' at Hungama, India and 'Song Of The Year' at AVIMA, Asia. 2Blue also played Judas in 'Jesus Christ Superstar' and Yudhishthira in 'Jaya: The Victory,' Having broken sales records previously set by his heroes, he didn't just find a place. He made one.

2Blue’s upcoming album is a homecoming. For doctors and engineers from India and the UAE, it is personal. Because 2Blue is the one they laughed and cried with when they were young. He is who they spoke with on MySpace and Orkut when they needed a friend. And over the years, he is who they grew old with: the lead singer of Vayu who went solo, the boy from Agartala who let go of everything safe and gave them their first taste of rebellion. Someday at a 2Blue concert, they will dance with their children. They will spot Purab Kohli. And their t-shirts will flaunt the album title, 'Dance With Infinity.' Because sometimes reality doesn't just inspire fiction. It outshines it.
